Weren't there plans for the T3 Typhoons to have a fuel-tank in its' tail-fin so that the space currently occupied by a belly fuel-tank could be repurposed to have a weapons-bay instead?

They developed conformal fuel tanks that sit above the wings straddling the fuselage, supposedly actually increases the airframes lift. No-one has opted to deploy them though.

I'm surprised that they didn't go with one in the tail as on Tornado, though that was a UK only modification.
