According to the latter, Mr. Macron “confirmed the discussions” before emphasizing “that no definitive agreement had been concluded with Turkey” and that an “agreement with Turkey should not be taken for granted”. So this doesn't change much in the grand scheme of things other than a delay of a year or two at worst. We know that, in case of a Eurofighter purchase, Turkey plans to integrate indigenous weapons anyway so this isn't even that big of a leverage.

The only thing that might even make it a leverage is maybe being able to compare the test results of this new indigenous missile with Meteor's to get an idea of it's performance vis-à-vis enemy equipment; but as I said that doesn't even mean much in the long term.

Turkish Ministry of National Defense:

“The Meteor missile is a new generation long-range missile of European origin, among the air-to-air missiles. We plan to add Meteor missiles to our inventory within the scope of the Eurofighter Typhoon procurement project.As we have always said, our priority is domestic and national weapons and systems. In this context, we plan to strengthen our Air Force with the GÖKHAN air-to-air missile, which is an equivalent to the Meteor missile that we are developing. Until the GÖKHAN missile enters the inventory, the procurement work for the Meteor missile along with the Eurofighter aircraft continues without any problems.

The newspaper's claim might be false though; on every occasion, the MoD has always said that they'd new planes.

What we can gather from all of this is, they're evaluating all options.

Second hand planes make sense due to urgent need of new airframes but why not wait a little longer and buy something that'll last longer and be more useful?

Lately there have been reports of a heavy push by the Koreans to get them to sign a deal for KF-21 & a share in the future Korean 6th gen program.

Everyone's after that golden goose, you know...

I'm expecting the publication of the Turkish procurement agreement during the next week. Besides this Greek annoyance, I think the German election was partial responsible for the drag in this matter.
 
Let's wait and see who gets the most votes in Germany had, I am sure that if it is the existing Government that wins the election the Turkey deal for the Typhoons will be signed as soon as possible.
 
I was thinking more in terms of - they already agreed not to oppose the UK deal but wanted the announcement after the election.
