Wonder why the Qatari foreign ministry declined to comment on the reason to remove the order? Seems rather strange.

Celebrating 12 extra Typhoons for Qatar may be premature.

NB: What the FT actually says:
It was changed the same day and also removed the explicit reference to Boxer as well....

Wonder if it was pushed out too soon...

Let's wait and see starviking on what comes out of their state visit, will they sign for the Typhoons while they are here?

According to Gareth Jennings and Tony Osborne all 4 Typhoon partners are now onboard with BAE's Striker II helmet...presumbaly we'll hear something on the Large Area Display in due course as well...this might mean the removal of the HUD in new production, and possible retrofits of T2 and T3.

brilliant news,

it might off the topic what difference F35 helmet vs Striker 2? is both same function ? so it will use GCAP ?

big step up from striker 1? and i suspire as they been do it over 10 years to research Striker 2 and 5 years ago seem like mature, but not sell and why now? cos tranches 3.5 upgrade Large Display touchscreen? tranches 4?

it is will help typhoon up level fight and new tactical especial 4.5 plane use 5.5 tech will good back up in future.

Basic it is bit better than f35 ? Bonus light and symbology both day and night which f35 has night only and cheap than f35 one wow.

It is interesting information
Yes and no.
Yes, it's a way newer kit.
No, you can't match F-35 (@NMaude I learn!!!) without F-35 sensor feed.

I mistake I meant say F-35 helmet not airplane as F-35 still superior over typhoon. Due stealth and see typhoon before typhoon see F-35.

As usual a good spot from Gabi...

They might be discussing about creating a joint training squadron (since these are FGR.4s of British-Qatari Sqd. and not Tranche 4s). Turkey already has a joint squadron with Qatar thst is equipped with F-16s and Eurofighters.

This deal had already become serious long ago but the question remains: When are they going to sign a deal? TurAF is infamous for their long and meticulous negotiations and they haven't signed the F-16 deal yet even after 3 years!

Also, we've received the news about this visit a week ago but I didn't want to post yet another post about Turkey since we're accustomed to British Eurofighters regularly visiting Turkey.

Edit: the airbase that they landed at is the home of TAI so this might be an indicator of a possible integration of various Turkish missiles on the plane. A reliable insider had mentioned a couple of months ago that Turkey is particularly interested in integrating it's own liquid fuelled ramjet AAM named Gokhan.

Let's wait and see if the Turkey deal is sometime in the new year snne, I would not think that Turkey would take too long. As for the F-16 deal I thought that had fallen through too after Turkey were thrown out of the F-35 deal after the fiasco over the S-400 purchase with Russia.

Contract for the technology maturation phase, envisioned to be 3 years long in length, signed. MLU mainly components include new LAD, FLCS, MC and SMS.

This is a huge turnaround from the situation that persisted a couple of years ago. And these are for new-build aircraft, perhaps there's interest from smaller militaries in secondhand aircraft. Colombia was looking at purchasing some secondhand Typhoons from Spain not too long ago for example.

So what Tranche of Typhoons will Spain be getting?

It's all Tranche 4. The Qatari and Kuwaiti orders were the last T3. More relevant would be the question "what capability standard will these aircraft be". Tranches are just production orders from the Core Nations, exports are phased in as appropriate. Capabilities are driven by the PxE programmes.q
