If the ship does not rotate, it will get too hot on one side and too cold on the other, generating noises like those of the hull of a submarine when changing depth.

In the Apollo years engineers already knew these things.

Either some kind of speaker malfunction, or maybe the ISS is tracked by surface radar, and speakers due to some weird accident reacted (my PC speakers tended to produce weird sound if a mobile phone ringed, while nearby)

Just listened to the comms recording via Ars. Dammed if it doesn't sound like Jonesy's sped up caterpillar drive recording.

Could that be Boeing's secret plan to get Stayliner back on the ground? Better watch out for the cook!

My father (who was a longtime Boeing engineer) has said the same thing. Nobody in his division liked the purchase.
