Merriman's Submarine Modelling Masterclass

It's amazing how little weight it actually takes to mess up ship's trim.

Had a new Diving Officer of the Watch playing with hovering on the trim pump, where you get a solid neutral buoyancy and then add or remove weight to change depth. Ohio-class are 19,000 tons submerged, and +/-500lbs was all it'd take to change depth. Might actually have to bust out the gram scale for this one!
... and then some bored-out-of-mind guy organizes a trim-party and fucks the diving officer good. Just for laughs.

Making a new Subdriver Mk1, Dave? I expected you'd be transitioning everything over to the Mk2 designs.
The little Type-21 model gave me an opportunity to play with the 'motors-in-the-wet' trick. A one-off WTC and motor combination. Nothing standard or series run with this one. Just two more like it and I'm back to my basic designs of WTC's.

Any insights on painted/sealed polystyrene hulls resistance to seawater conditions?
Sorry. I don't have any experience running in salt water. If you can find a materials listing for polystyrene that address alkaline (high pH water) exposure, that would give you some insight on how that plastic will behave in that environment over time. As there has not been a need I have not studied the situation.
