Maybe?

You see, the sound from things like quadcopters is relatively high-pitched, which makes it absorbed quickly by the environment. Low frequency sounds like explosions travel long distances, but high freqs fade out over short distances. So you'd need many, many such listening posts.

Ukraine is using the equivalent of a highly distributed version of this idea to listen for drones, using thousands of modified cellphones.
