It's a good thing that America's first astronaut to reach outer-space was Alan Shepard not Alan Johnson otherwise we'd be talking about Jeff Bezos' New Johnson.

Awesome to see the upper stage BE-3's in place. These use hydrogen as the fuel rather than the first stages CH4/LOX BE-4's. I hope the added complexity of multiple fuel types pays off. Certainly pros and cons with hydrogen. https://t.co/cY5hRbgvOk pic.twitter.com/XVIl0Et4dn

New Glenn roll out and put on Launch Pad
![]()
By now the first flight-capable New Glenn rocket is vertical on the launch pad and only a few tests away from a maiden flight. Next up on the pre-launch checklist is a static fire expected to happen in the coming days.
Once complete, assuming it goes as planned and the data is promising, New Glenn will just about be ready for flight.

We’ve just completed our ninth human spaceflight and the 28th flight of the #NewShepard program. The #NS28 crew included Emily Calandrelli, Sharon Hagle, Marc Hagle, Austin Litteral, James (J.D.) Impressive but it's also looking rather "Phallic" here standing to attention. Jeremy Clarkson would no doubt be green with envy

Jeff Bezos said at the NYTimes DealBook Summit today that Blue Origin was "very, very close" to a first launch of New Glenn, suggesting all the company needed was "final regulatory approval" [i.e., launch license] He was not more specific on a launch date, though.

Regulations aren’t stopping them doing a static fire which they still haven’t done.Jeff Bezos said at the NYTimes DealBook Summit today that Blue Origin was "very, very close" to a first launch of New Glenn, suggesting all the company needed was "final regulatory approval" [i.e., launch license] He was not more specific on a launch date, though.

How is it part Old space? there are none of those people involved. It is a hybrid rocket--not in the sense of SS1---it is part old Space, so they want to baby it and have it launch all new, nice and clean perhaps...if it can touch down above the ocean like the last SH, that's their static test--all up.
I’m told that it’s tight but feasible that FAA grants approval for a December launch of the inaugural flight of New Glenn. Blue Origin has done “an exceptional job of developing their application.” But there’s still some work ahead. https://t.co/9toTFqrnvm

Interesting! They need regulatory approval for the Static Fire test. That explains why they have been taking the opportunity for several tanking tests. https://t.co/J0tI0i7eMr

At SFA Spacepower conf this am, Blue Origin's Lars Hoffman said they'll launch New Glenn "within the next few weeks." Vehicle's ready but "there's a process we have to follow to ensure that we're on a path to success." But it'll be "this year," "maybe for Christmas."

Bezos not concerned about Musk’s influence on Trump administration
As Blue Origin nears the first launch of its New Glenn rocket, founder Jeff Bezos said he is not worried Elon Musk’s influence on the incoming Trump administration will adversely affect the company…spacenews.com
"There can only be one."He's probably not concerned because he knows there's not room in the Whitehouse for two very arrogant, Mt. Everest sized egos.
It typically is in that kind of situationIf they lose their head it's all over.

One billionaires priorities are another billionaires deferred aspirations...Unsurprisingly the first launch of New Glenn is now NET January 2025.
After a long day of stops and starts that stretched well into the evening, and on what appeared to be the company's fifth attempt Friday, Blue Origin successfully ignited the seven main engines on its massive New Glenn rocket.
The test firing as fog built over the Florida coast marks the final major step in the rocket company's campaign to bring the New Glenn rocket—a privately developed, super-heavy lift vehicle—to launch readiness. Blue Origin said it fired the vehicle's engines for a duration of 24 seconds. They fired at full thrust for 13 of those seconds.
I will leave it up to the student to compare and contrast the development and operational timelines of Musk's launch vehicles vs. Bezos' ones...![]()

that is wrong. Delta IV Heavy was more "powerful", it had greater payload capability than Titan IVBView: https://x.com/DerekdotSpace/status/1873027175689142698With yesterday’s test, New Glenn has become the most powerful rocket ever fired at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, a record that had been held by the Titan IVB since February 23, 1997. https://t.co/fHdAvMrPyf
