Once the definitive powerplant becomes available, will all these airframes be re-engined as they go through their first overhauls ?

I also have to wonder if they will really go through with the stretched civil variant that's been proposed. There are a lot of Il-76 airframes that are reaching the end of their service lives that need to be replaced.

Also an interesting news… It has been speculated since some time that one Y-20A prototype has been converted to an engine testbed, replacing the old Il-76SK. It’s first flight was reported to have occurred on 6. January 2023. Now first images appeared indeed supporting this rumour testing the CJ1000A.

No, he's just phrasing it in a way that makes it sound like people expected Y-20Bs at that air base in January this year for some reason. There has been no such expectation.
