I think these numbers are the result of misinformation from the West.
It was MiG "18-50" not "Mig-18".Jnes 1991-1992 publishes it correctly formatted without a hyphen.

It doesn't fall in the main designation sequence.

of course they meant here,a MiG-19 Farmer,but the strange thing they called it TsAGI-418 ?.
Let me introduce you to a thing called "mistakes", where during the cold war magazines and books were published with wrong information, guesswork and outright lies about Soviet aircraft.
