Seems remarkably neat for a birdstrike; the entire canopy structure is gone. Also you'd expect a birdstrike to take out the forward transparency, not the top. Any chance this was some other sort of failure, like an uncommanded canopy jettison?

I'm not sure if there is a boldface for canopy damaged eject canopy and press on to land? I can't remember that being an option in the Hornet.

The canopy can be jettisoned separately. Aborting an ejection sequence isn't possible.

Some will choose to eject the canopy manually before initiating an ejection. If you have time, you might want to ensure you achieved safe separation b/w you and the canopy.
That was my meaning here.
