Lasers weapon on a multicopter?

Is Turkey trying to win the warcrimes per second competition, given the logical tactical application of such a vehicle? I guess that ship have sailed given how the slaughterbots video only prompted marketing of vehicles based on the same concept.

Normally you'd think such designs would be kept secret.

So the Akcini UAV will have 2 engine options ? Which engine will Turkey use ? I assume they will stick to the Motor Sich engine to make their fleet sanction proof. Wonder if Ukraine might emerge as a potential customer for this UAV.

Probably more of a dazzler, considering electrical capability of such a quadcopter.

So there are three engine options, depending on the use case for selective UCAV. MOTOR SICH AI-450T is a good in-between engine for performance and endurance, so likely will be the base model for Turkey's UCAV fleet.

Engines;
- Pratt & Whitney PT6A-135A @ 750 shp | Low Endurance, Max Load Capacity and High Operational altitude (Gas Turbine)
- MOTOR SICH AI-450T @ 450shp | Medium Endurance, Medium Load Capacity and High Operational altitude (Gas Turbine)
- TEI TD-220 @ 225hp | Maximum Endurance, Minimal Load Capacity and medium Operational altitude (Turbo Diesel)

As of yet, endurance and max load capacities for engine types have not been released and likely will not be. However, in a recent endurance test, the manufacturer posted on Twitter that it flew a distance of 6000km in a single sortie. Taking into account cruising speed, it would work out to be around 24 hours with MOTOR SICH AI-450T engine.

I have to wonder, if relations between Turkey and the EU had been better, would the Akinci have had a chance of being adopted by NATO ? It seems like a more cost effective solution to their UAV needs rather than the expensive MALE project that is being pushed that won't even enter service until at least 2029.

Alas, probably not. In some respects for good reasons (Akinci is heavily biased toward combat over ISR, which is probably not what the larger NATO air forces are looking for), but also due to procurement incompetence. Exhibit A - there would have been an even faster and more cost effective solution that has likewise been completely ignored: https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/threads/your-ultimate-what-if.36669/#post-442691

One can only conclude that expediency isn't really a priority.

Might not be known, but at one point Turkey was going to enter the Eurodrone programme but due to political issues and non-agreeable terms (Turkey wanted more share in the development process), Turkey stepped out. A decade on, Turkey has developed Akinci while Europe is still diddling with its programme.

Akinci is not being marketed to foreign countries (although there is interest from foreign countries), as Baykar is focusing on delivering units to Turkish armed forces. However, we may soon see more European countries joining Poland and Ukraine in operating TB2 drones. 10 un-disclosed countries have signed contracts for supply of TB2.

Baykar ARZ Geographic Information System
ARZ.png

ARZ is a new generation 3D virtual globe application of a Geographic Information System. Having a flexible structure and handy interface, the Geographic Information System of ARZ provides solutions to GIS needs in the field of defence technologies. ARZ GIS application can easily integrate with defence systems and provides those systems with GIS capabilities.

ARZ application offers basic Geographic Information System (GIS) software capabilities to users. Carrying such features as raster layers, vector layers, high-resolution terrain model on a 3D globe, real satellite image, layer and user management, and 3D modelling, the ARZ GIS application meets the needs of its user.

The ARZ GIS application integrates with the Unmanned Aerial Platforms and provides instant access to the UAV location and target information. The information delivered from the UAV platform is accessed through the ARZ application.

Users can create vector data on the map by adding objects to the map. Due to integration with other systems, objects with location information can be automatically viewed on the ARZ application. The system can be easily managed through effective authorization solutions, using layer and object-based authorizations.

By conducting spatial searches on the ARZ application, one can make archive inquiries through the objects and aerial platforms that had missions in that location in the past.

Rapid Mapping Pod

The Baykar Rapid Mapping Pod enables 24 hour turnaround time to generate high-resolution (7cm and less) maps of thousands of square kilometers.

An automated pipeline processes terabytes of data to provide beautiful, orthorectified maps with each pixel accurately georeferenced to within several decimeters. A highly critical addition necessary for scouting and detecting changes.

Unprecedented demand pours in for Turkey’s combat drone

There's also reports that Ukraine wants to buy 24 TB2 UCAVs, they already operate 12 TB2 UCAVs.

The Omani Ministry of State for Defense and the Turkish Ministry of National Defense are said to have reached a preliminary understanding for the procurement of Bayraktar TB2 drones.
