I remember reading a science fiction novel where nanites and past digital memory could resurrect people, and as a quick throw away quip it was mentioned that sometimes the manites got out of control in a wildlife environment which resulted in B-52s being brought back into service and their resurrected crews flying them again to do arc light style strikes with an anti nanite agent. It was all of one paragraph in the book but it made me giggle.

i check the video stream.
into flight of Starship 33

7m 40sec one of Raptors shutdown
8m 03sec the Raptor next to it shutdown
8m 04sec a Vacuum Raptor at those two Raptors shuts down
8m 16sec the Vacuum Raptor next to shutdown too
8m 24sec the last Raptor shuts down leaving one Vacuum Raptor working
8m 28sec Communication of 33 enden here.
9m 00sec planned engine cut off

Looks like one of Raptors detonate and starte chain reaction in engine bay follow by FTS

i guess its from IFT-4
That just looks so much safer than Orion's... uh-huh...

Starship--an Irwin Allen production. Staring George Kennedy.

I wonder if this SS looked similar. If a Raptor exploded--that might also leave the hull looking as if hit by grapeshot.

If so--this could be a threat even to Lunar Starship even with it needing no TPS.

BO NG gets to orbit first, but fails the hard part. SpaceX nails the hard part, but appear to have lost Starship. Wild week for space travel.

It is still a great accomplishment for both. No one else is doing what they are doing; even Bezos seems ahead of most Chinese efforts in terms of scale and recovery. And literally no one else matters who is not PRC or U.S.

Just stop with the nonsense.
a. People aren't going to fly on it scores of flights. After all bugs are worked out. just like any other vehicle
b. Orion's heat shield didn't do so well

No, this vehicle is still in the test phase.

FAA activated debris avoidance procedure, rerouting aircraft away from the path of debris.

Musk suggests RUD was a consequence of insufficient vent capacity and is ready to march-on for a next flight in one month:

To be fair,I am not even allowed to shoot off fireworks in my state. I’m confident if I rained metal at orbital velocity on a random patch of the earth, there would be some guys at my door not some forms to fill out.

Musk has tweeted preliminary theory is an oxygen leak beyond the engine compartments fire bulkhead caused an internal overpressure too large for the vents to handle.

I.e. it quite literally blew up

Yes … according to him:

„Preliminary indication is that we had an oxygen/fuel leak in the cavity above the ship engine firewall that was large enough to build pressure in excess of the vent capacity. Apart from obviously double-checking for leaks, we will add fire suppression to that volume and probably increase vent area. Nothing so far suggests pushing next launch past next month.“

IFT-7 ended in a very expensive fireworks display.

Edit: Scott Manley has just uploaded a new video concerning IFT-7.

We were looking forward to flight number 7 of Starship and Superheavy, after a failure to catch the booster on flight 6 we hoped that we'd once again see a successful booster recovery, and a demonstration that Starship could operate reliably on orbit.
We were all excited to see the booster caught successfully, but quickly things went in the opposite direction as engines failed on Starship, telemetry was lost and eventually many people shared images of debris reentering downrange.
We have lots of questions, including, what will SpaceX need to do to fly again?

That's above the engines, not great. FAA's going to want answers, well unless it's gutted I guess.

How about deal with the cause by eliminating or reducing the leaks vs dealing with the effects.

So any ideas as to why Starship broke up? Or will we just wait until we hear from SpaceX?

Same thoughts about New Glenn speed on lift off incomparrison to Starship Michel Van. Perhaps it was due to Blue Origin not wanting to over stress the Rocket when it lifted off the launch pad, just a theory that I have currently got.

No, it is just simple T/W. There is no throttling in that timeframe.
