WayRay, a deep-tech automotive supplier company based in Zurich, Switzerland, launched their first concept car, incorporating their holographic True AR (augmented reality) glazing technology. The WayRay Holograktor is dubbed as a “Metaverse” device on wheels, envisioning the future of ride-hailing with the options of being driven conventionally or remotely.

WayRay hasn’t explained how a fleet of Holograktors could be operated, but when asked by Autocar if he could imagine large offices full of remote drivers, Ponomarev said: “Yeah, why not? It will be like a call centre.”

It occurred to me that nobody working for BMW or Audi should be allowed to see Dune. They might get ideas.

That's a throwback to the 1970 Chaparral 2J. It had two fans adapted from a military tank engine in the rear, driven by a single two-stroke twin-cylinder engine. The fans sucked most of the air from underneath the car. It was banned from Can-Am racing when competing teams became very cross indeed with a car that was seconds per lap faster than any other car on the grid.
In 1978, F1-team Brabham pulled off the same trick with the BT46B. In the BT46B's only racing appearance, Niki Lauda handily won the 1978 race at Anderstorp. Then-Brabham-manager Bernie Ecclestone withdrew the car from further racing, to avoid a conflict with the other privately owned teams, whose support he needed to run FOCA.

Apparently, BMW's Z4 (even the rag top version) is a fine winter car. That one is always at the Staff Parking area of our neighborhood shopping area. There isn't much snow here yet, but it is a bit chilly.
