A little interspecies dating, by artist Aldo di Gennaro for an unknown publication. Believed to have been created in 2014, but clearly based on 1930s pulp images...

Some actual pulpy goodness, in the form of the cover by Harry Lemon Pankhurst for the January 1945 issue of 'Planet Stories', which also featured a story by the Queen of the Spaceways herself Leigh Brackett...

From my collection, the cover by an unknown artist for the UK edition of the novel 'Santiago: A Myth of the Far Future' (1986), a work which is essentially a Sci-Fi Western by author Mike Resnick. A belated sequel entitled 'The Return of Santiago: A Myth of the Far Future' appeared in 2003.

The poster by Charles DelMar to the film 'The Last Starfighter' which featured a literal swansong (and scene stealing) performance by actor Robert Preston.

Remember, always trust Centauri...

Artwork by Boris Vallejo for the Pocket Books Star Trek novel series that I'd completely forgotten about. In this case the cover art for Diane Duane's novel 'The Wounded Sky' (1983)

It sad to hear that Robert McGinnis has past away in age of 91 years
McGinnis a unique artist how made covers for Pulp and crime novels, Movie posters (like Bond Movies)
he could put with view paint stroke, the tone and starting of novel or movie, and get the buyer interested.

sadly i not found one his rare Sci-fi covers but he made some Sci-Fi poster next his Bond work

The cover to the fourth issue of the fanzine Altair dating from 1978, the picture was apparently drawn in 1976 by an artist using the pseudonym 'Mowery.

Much more art (of variable quality) from this fertile period can be found in the 'Leah Fisher Science Fiction & Fantasy Fanzine Covers' collection held by the Milwaukee Public Library.

Indeed, a great illustrator who really knew his market. That's not belittling him - I admire professionalism that has flair and he had it in abundance. He didn't excel in his genre - he defined it. Here are a few works I was able to dig up. Barbarella, American Gods, Moonraker. Not his best, though. The best is NSFW (Not Safe For Work - you really don't want it on your monitor when your boss walks by).

A 1960 (The year forms part of the artists signiture) artwork depicting a landing on one of the Martian moons, which one is unknown as is what it was originally commissioned for. By the artist Paul Rossi it was used in a 1963 childrens book about the Moon landings entitled 'We Land On The Moon' written by Raymond John.

The cover by Chris Moore for the 1978 release by Magnum Books of Clifford D. Simak's 1976 novel 'Shakespeare's Planet'.
Ah yes, I've read that. The cover has nothing to do with the story. Rather a melancholy tale - actually Simak is unfairly pigeonholed as a 'pastoralist' (whatever that means) but he was far more than that. Back in the day, I bought several novels by Simak with Moore covers - A Heritage of Stars, Cemetery World, Shakespeare's Planet, Catface (Mastodonia in some markets). Earlier works like Way Station, Time and Again and Time is the Simplest Thing are well worth the read. He had a wonderfully humane sensibility.
