Apparently low poly 1990s video game graphics actually make some sense as a no-snag brush guard design for a similarly video game machinegun turret. If it works...

Unlike most arthropod exoskeleton joints, those in scorpions' tails can twist as well as bend. The authors point out that this is a tubular structure that can transport fluids through internal ducts. Applications for surgery are noted, soft robotics is another. I could imagine refuelling that doesn't require the skill to thread a needle with a bulldozer if the probe is a robot that can respond to turbulent conditions.
