Hi! These drawings are for Shinden.
Please watch the picture of the IJN(Kugisho)'s technical Lieutenant Masayoshi Tsuruno(鶴野正敬). Shinden was born from his idea.
He graduated the department of aeronautical engineering of Tokyo imperial university(東京帝国大学 航空工学科).

Hi! Enjoy.
B-29's bombing to the Mitsubishi(三菱) Nagoya(名古屋) engine factory was timely and effective for delay of Shinden prototype completion.
Also Shinden No.1 prototype had engine trouble at the end of the war. Kyushu contacted Mitsubishi to solve this trouble for full power flight test.
Senden development failure was fatal for B-29 interception.

In September 1945, Kugisho reported to the U.S. that Otsu fighter(interceptor) which under development was Shinden.
Experimetal Shinden No.1 and 2's engine was Mitsubishi HA-43-42 vulkan coupling drive engine.
No.3's engine was HA-43-43 which had 130hp larger power than HA-43-42 in take off.
No.4 and 5's propeller had a 4 blade.(Diamter 3.5m or 3.6m)
No.8's engine was HA-43-44 which had single stage 3 speed mechanical supercharger instead of vulkan coupling drive supercharger.
Shinden production model's engine was HA-43-44 engine, too.

Hmmm....
I have "WWⅡ FIGHTERS,DESIGN WITH PRECISION drawing by Matsuba Minoru" which include Shinden.
But not so detailed. I give up.

Not realistic.
I find the famous WWⅡ FIGHTERS,DESIGN WITH PRECISION by Matsuba Minoru on Ebay, I think I buy it.....

Why you think it's not realistic?
This image is a book cover of WW2 FIGHTERS,DESIGN WITH PRECISION drawing by Matsuba Minoru which include Shinden 3 side view.

Going slightly off-topic for a moment:

Oh contra rotating propeller Shinden! It must be a Star's favorite.
The end stage of the war, Japanese fighters forced to fight with P-51 which escorted B-29 from Io island prior to B-29 attack.
It was a very hard mission for Japanese fighters.

Very interesting design. Wonder how it would have perfomed against a P-51?

Hi!
http://www.geocities.jp/jp_j7w1_shinden/index.html#new
Shinden was planned to attack B-29 as follows.
(1) Shinden developed in altitude of 12,000 m ahead of B-29, and attacked using 30mm cannons.
(2) Repeat this once again.

In case of Shinden, it might be possible to dodge P-51 by it's high performance.(service ceiling : 12000m, maximum speed : 740km/h)
At the beginning of Shinden project, to have air combat flap was considered. Later this plan was abolished.

I suppose it needs to be said again that airplanes don't win dogfights, pilots do.

In any case, the P-51H model may have been the opposite of the Shinden, had that possibility ever come to pass. The H model possessed superior altitude and speed to the numbers you have quoted. The same is true of the follow-on versions of the P-47.

Top speed of the long range P-47N was 467 mph (752 km/hr) and this was a plane that performed better at high altitudes where it would do bomber escort.

I only give a sigh. ;D

Although I appreciate their performance, I prefer the appearence of the P-47D and P-51D. I like the eliptical wing tips and smaller tail fillet (in front of the rudder) on the P-47D instead of the clipped wing tips on the N model (the clipped wing tips did give the P-47 a better roll rate than previous models). On the P-51 the longer nose, taller rudder and double antennae masts of the H model just looks - wrong. The P-51D is one of the most beautiful prop fighters ever (after the Ki-84 of course! ;D ). The H model looks like they hit it with an ugly stick.

Blackkite-san, I can't wait to look at these videos. Thank you for posting them.

:)The most rare i thing are these!!
