The M50 Ontos is an odd vehicle with an interesting story, a problem child that the U.S. Army ended up rejecting but the U.S. Marine Corps ended using to good effect, though in small numbers and for infantry support, not as a tank hunter. There are links to more resources in the Wikipedia...
From numerous sources, it would seem the F-4 Phantom had a somewhat heavily-loaded wing (medium, medium-heavy).
I'm not saying I dispute this as the F-4's performance obviously reflects it, but I am wondering how an aircraft with such large wings, which appear to be substantially cambered...

Transporting Marines to a combat zone. The idea is simple. Implementing would be a whole other story. Personally I think that bird better have a lot of good shielding. And lets hope insurgents with Stingers aren't hanging around. Because it's going to be a bad day from everbody onboard.
But I...
I really ought to know more about this, but we seem to have a couple of people with some rotorcraft experience around these parts, but who knows what about the Boeing 360? It seems to have been discussed here only in passing.
Some stuff from Interavia, 1987...
Because of its origins, the 360...
Here is some data on an interesting British program from the early 1980s. The following information has been copied from Jane’s Light Tanks and Armoured Cars 1984 by Christopher F. Foss. It is posted here for educational purposes.

Hello!
Well I've discovered that I knew rather bad the loser of the JSF contest, the Boeing X-32. This is one is well documented on the web, but drawings of the
- aborted- operational variant are less known... Seems a mockup was build by Boeing and showed at Farnborough in july 2000...

Joe Baugher's website has a whole paragraph on the subject.

The design of what was eventually to emerge as the McDonnell F-4 Phantom began in August of 1953. The McDonnell design team was headed by Herman Barkley...
I photographed this years ago at the Paris air Show but I never found any other reference to it (like designation, specs, 3 views....) I dimmly remember a reference to the cargo bay being kept in the design and could be used as bomb or torpedo(!!!) bay ....

Over the years the STOVL ability of the Harrier has led to various proposals for ships for it to operate from.
First was the VT Harrier Carrier concept of the mid-1970s. 8,000 tons, c. 400ft length at WL, 420 ft flight deck with ski-jump.

Two magazines („The Aeroplane“ and „Flugwelt“) mention a Chance Vought XF9U as an further development of the F8U with big radar in the nose and air intakes similar to the F-105. Is it a hoax or a secret project?

Was suppose to be a counter to the Russian JS III heavy tank. It weighed in at 65 tons with a 120mm gun. Although it did make it into service in small numbers it was a rarity.
I apologize for not knowing exactly which programs these are associated with ( I can't vouch for the filenames though LHA-R seems pretty obvious though the final design doesn't resemble any of these much).

The Mohawk (OV-1) Society has an illustration, originally in their newsletter, of Grumman's COIN derivative of the Mohawk on their website, though it takes a spot of digging to find it. I did copy it and will be glad to share (I cake it we can't attach picture files directly here). It looks...
