By domestic, does he mean Ukrainian engines built in Turkey or clean sheet engines developed in Turkey ?

It will initially use Ukrainian AI-322 5,500 lbf dry thrust engines, after four years for domestic production Turkey will switch to using their own. Was originally supposed to be the TEI TF-6000 6,000 lbf dry thrust engine for domestic production but now Baykar are claiming the company will develop its own Turbofan engine in-house rather than using TEI. (so thats probably why it will take four years to get a domestic engine)

It seems Baykar is seriously developing an in-house engine for Kizilelma. It seems they want to use their own products for all of their drones, including the TB-2.
Makes sense. Lots harder to have sales blocked when the only internals are Turkish. And you make more money when the same conglomerate owns all the companies making all the bits.

The point I'm making here is that they still have the TEI TF6000/10000 option, but they're pursuing an in-house engine development nevertheless. The same situation also applies to TB-2 as well, the OEMs that can develop subcomponents for these are literally dime a dozen in Turkey yet Baykar chooses to develop missiles, gimbals and engines by themselves (to increase the profits as you've said??).

Mind you, these people recently got into the LEO constellation business as well... This just shows you the scope of their ambitions...

I don't think licensing Ukranian engines and producing them would take 4 years when the plant is almost ready, thus it should be a brand new, in-house engine design.

Interesting, so the BM-100 engine they've developed for the TB2 is almost ready for serial production. With 20 engines expected to be produced by years end. It'll be interesting to see what they've come up with...

They seem to have carried out a substantial redesign, P3 looks more refined and "elegant" in comparison to the P1 below:

Is this really the first purpose built (i.e. excluding converted target aircraft or D-21 + WZ-8), supersonic capable LW drone that has emerged?

This is interesting:

TUSAŞ Offers AKSUNGUR UAV to US Border Security

Firm Speaking to CNN Türk, TUSAŞ CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu stated that AKSUNGUR UAV was proposed to the U.S.-based firm performing border security in FIA2024. Demiroğlu stated that the exhibition featured a discussion about the AKSUNGUR UAV, which has an endurance of more than 55 hours. He stated that the firm was offered AKSUNGUR to support border patrol activities on the U.S.-Mexican border.

Due to its longer endurance than other UAVs/UCAVs of similar size, thanks to a pair of PD170 turbodiesel engines with lower consumption than gas turbines, AKSUNGUR has potential for civilian applications in areas like border patrol and disaster relief. The latter was demonstrated during the disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of the Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes on February 6, 2023. An AKSUNGUR UAV performed observation and acted as a mobile communication station with onboard relay equipment.

Another significant use of AKSUNGUR in the civilian sector is its active use by the Turkish General Directorate of Forestry. Other equipment, in addition to the nose-mounted gimbal EO system, is possible for border patrol applications.

The Turkish Navy’s UAV can be fitted with METEKSAN’s MİLSAR synthetic aperture radar without replacing the E/O system.

Vertical stabilizers actually do have cameras on them, though not sure what necessitates it when Kizilelma has coverage with it's DAS like system - perhaps for development purposes ?

Tail cams have been a thing for every Baykar drone for some reason, I really dont know but they are always there

They still have some work to do with coating. But I guess this is acceptable given Baykar's iterative design and this is just the 3rd prototype

I'd honestly be surprised if there is any RAM coating on the planes we've seen so far.

Verify your airframe actually works before you go applying RAM coatings to things and making it a pain to access the internals!
