Harpy replacement, Kargi with 6+ hours loitering capability
View attachment 679221
Footage of a launch. Kargi Anti-Radiation Loitering Drone has passive RF seeker with broader frequency range and longer acquisition distance then Harpy. It has a SATCOM and a bidirectional data link - meaning it can also perform SIGINT sending data back to ground stations. With 6+ hours of loitering, range is between 900-1000km.

FEDAI is a part of the system which we call the Drone Killer. It flies to the target via radar guidance, then tracks the target with its onboard EO camera, and detonates its warhead near the target....

The TRV-DROKA + FEDAI Modular UAV Detection, Recognition & Defense System comprises TRV/GSR 0802 3D Drone Detection Radar (detection distance 6 km+), TRV/Guard 21 EOS System (detection distance 23.4km for a 2.3x2.3m target), TRV-LDR-100 LIDAR (detection range 1 km for a drone/UAV with 2m wingspan), HRFD-U360 RF Sensor (300MHz-6,000MHz operating frequency range, detection distance 5 km+) and Acoustic UAV Detection System products. The Counter UAV System is composed of RF Jammer (operating on 7 separate bands specific to drones), HPEM UAV Defense System (200m effective range against swarm UAV attack, the final defense line for autonomous drones and drone swarms) and FEDAI Loitering Munition Platform.

With a length of 1.1m, a wingspan of 2m, and a weight of 7kg, the FEDAI 101 can reach a maximum speed of 140km/h and an altitude of 1.200m (AGL/Above Ground Level), while the FEDAI 102 with a length of 1.4m, a wingspan of 2.35m and a weight of 8.5kg, can reach a maximum speed of 153km/h and an altitude of 5,000m. The FEDAI 101 has a range of 40km, while the FEDAI 102 has a range of 65km. Both Loitering Munition Platforms can stay in the air for 35 minutes. The 1.7kg Semtex/HMX-2 warhead in FEDAI 101 has a blast area of 50m (directional fragmentation effect), and the 2.4kg Semtex/HMX-2 warhead in FEDAI 102 has a blast area of 60m. Both platforms have parachute recovery capability and can be launched from a single launch tube or multiple launchers (4x3, 6x4, or 8x5).

FEDAI UAV Killer System, the thermal cameras, LIDAR, 3D radar, and autopilot are domestic products, while the battery and electric motors are commercial off-the-shelf products

Slow electric powered AA munition??? Really weird, how can a slow interceptor get used if the target becomes aware of the threat? Is there something I'm missing about the concept of operation, or it is mostly for anti-evtol drones like multicopters?

*It can accelerate to 410 kts.
* With the DRFM module, it can be a fake target (airplane). successfully applied in the 2nd Karabakh War.
* With the MAM-L warhead, it can be a kamikaze drone.
* It can fly for 55 minutes and hundreds of kilometers via link to carrier drone

TÜRKİYE`S BOMB-DROPPING UAV BOYGA ENTERS SERVICE

1656015517662.png

In line with Türkiye`s fully independent defense industry goals, a new project carried out under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries was successfully delivered to the security forces.

June 23, 2022

Acceptance tests of BOYGA, Autonomous Multi-Rotor Combat UAS with Morter Payload developed by STM, have been successfully completed. BOYGA, which passed all the tests, was delivered to the security forces.
President of the Presidency of Defense Industries, Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR, announced the news on his social media account. "We have added another capability to our inventory that will give the Mehmetçik (Turkish Soldiers) a great advantage on the field. The indigenous BOYGA UAV, which can drop 81mm mortar rounds, successfully completed the acceptance tests and was delivered to our security forces. Best wishes."

BOYGA, the latest member of STM's tactical mini-UAV product family, can drop customized 81mm mortar rounds produced by MKE on the target with high precision thanks to its improved ballistic estimation algorithm. BOYGA, which can be used effectively in counterterrorism and asymmetric warfare, has an operational endurance of 30 minutes with mortar munitions. The BOYGA UAV, which weighs 15 kg, can reach a flight altitude of 1,500 meters, has a range of 5 kilometers, and can be carried by a single soldier.

Oryx is used as their source in that article. Look up the some of the history and nation of origin of that organization. They are a source to watch but like nearly all sources in this war it is good to know as much as possible and keep a wary eye in all of it, whatever your personal beliefs are.

Oryx is a good source... for certain things. It's not that his kill lists aren't meticulously curated, just how that info is spun, and what goes unmentioned about their reliability.

For example, it is rarely if ever properly acknowledged that his OSINT counting gives an incomplete picture in general, and that in the particular case of the Ukraine war, info on Ukrainian losses is less complete still than on Russian losses. This is due to factors which are entirely outside his control, to be fair, but any analysis drawing on the kill numbers needs to be caveated accordingly.

Otherwise you get nonsense such as what is written in that article:

Forbes said:
The importance of the TB2 drones to the Ukrainians cannot be overstated. According to Oryx, a blog that tracks the destruction of military equipment through open-source reports, these drones are credited with destroying the following: 6 armored fighting vehicles, 5 towed artillery, 1 multi-rocket launcher, 2 anti-aircraft guns, 10 helicopters, 6 naval ships, 3 command posts, 1 communication station, 2 logistics trains, and numerous resupply trucks. The Ukrainian military reportedly started the war with just 30 of these drones and have lost only 8 in combat.

"Just 30" TB2s? That's a sizeable fleet by any standard! And the 8 losses should read 8 *confirmed* losses. How many more fell on Ukrainian-controlled territory or lie on the bottom of the Black Sea?

During the 2020 Karabakh war, the comparable kill stats (also according to Oryx) were: 126 armoured vehicles, 138 towed artillery pieces, 61 multiple rocket launchers, 1 anti-aircraft gun and almost 200 sundry supply vehicles. In a conflict, notably, which lasted only a third as long as the still-ongoing Ukraine war and was vastly smaller in scale! And all that for the loss of only 2 or 3 TB2s out of a fleet of just 6 to 12.

I don't know about you, but based on this comparison, I would not say that "the importance of the TB2 drones to the Ukrainians cannot be overstated". I'm sure they found it a useful contribution, but it doesn't appear to have had anywhere near the massive impact that it did in Karabakh. Of course, and here I'll do what Oryx usually fails to, I acknowledge that I may be wrong because the numbers paint an incomplete picture. But the difference in scale and exchange ratio is big enough that I think a pattern emerges.

And then there's somewhat misleading categorizations, such as Raptor assault boats and small Serna landing craft as "naval ships" (as though they were cruisers or frigates).

Again, the figures aren't wrong, but always keep in mind that ultimately they are subject to the fog of war and beware of disingenuous conclusions.

Furthermore, at very least part of those "destroyed" were recovered.
At most - we don't know if they were destroyed in the first place. We know 6 were hit, but IIRC only landing craft was actually seen on the bottom.

How many boats and men have the Russians lost just to put people on that stupid little island? :D

CNN report: Will Turkey's 'drone policy' work?

CNN's Nina dos Santos reports on the Bayraktar TB2, one of Turkey's most effective drones, and how its become one of President Erdogan's most assertive foreign policy tools.

Very good reporting. Very good crisis management from NATO (someone must have followed one the link above!).
Always a good thing when everyones moved on with a grin of well deserved self satisfaction.

But what the heck does Nina dos S. has to do with UAV?!! She's more a gifted political/economy analyst.
