Though originally the cover for “The View from the Stars” by Walter M. Miller.
Some Publisher just recycle the Artwork for other Titels, to save Money...

A 'Star Wars' influenced piece by artist David Hardy, just which book, or books it was used for is unknown.
was cover of Book by David Hardy & Patrick Moor called The New Challenge of the Stars in 1978
A reedit of Challenge of the Stars from 1972.

The tittle and location of the thread is ok for posting art, regardless the more or less fantastic aspects. To me, that's ok.
May be another thread could be opened for hard science fiction art only?
The original science fiction of the Verne/H.G. Wells era required some scientific knowledge from the writer, but the publishers needed more material and little by little they opened the door to the fantasy genre (A Princess of Mars) and the horror genre (Frankenstein) for which scientific knowledge is not needed, an overdose of Artemisia absinthium is enough, or a winter depression.

That I haven’t seen before—the X-wing of post 599–that used in a pinball machine?
I wonder how much art has been lost…

An Eddie Jones image that was reprinted in 'The Space Warriors' (1980) by Stewart Crowley. It was clearly painted after the John Berkey cover to the 1972 reprinting 'Star Science Fiction Stories Nº. 3'. A quick look on the Eddie Jones fansite didn't immediately turn up where this was used before that, but the most likely origin is the work he did for German science fiction magazine 'Terra Astra'.

The cover to the anthology 'Critical Mass' (1977) by Frederick Pohl. This is a personal favourite amongst Eddie Jones's artwork. There's a powerful sense of place, but also of the 'energy' that was unleashed by the film 'Star Wars' without directly quoting it's imagery. It's an image that invites storytelling, who controls the settlement (castle?) in the background, whose ship is blasting off in the foreground and why are they leaving?

Later: Some searching found the full wraparound cover on the ISFDB. It is a true pity that no artbook was put together for Eddie Jones. From what I've been able to find out the closest thing to that is 'The Star Warriors' (1980) where around eighty percent of the artwork used was drawn from pieces Jones had created for the covers of 'Terra Astra' magazine and other German publications. The ISFDB also revealed that I was wrong about when the artwork was created, a much less 'brooding' version of the cover appeared on a 1975 Clifford D. Simak anthology.

A quintet of posters by South American artist José Luiz Benício da Fonseca for the South America Insurance Group. Not sure when these were done, but I'm guessing the 1960s...

A trio of John Berkey pictures created for adverts, all appeared in 'Future Life' magazine in 1979/80. Two have been identified as coming from a series commissioned by the Otis Elevator company, the other was from a unidentified textiles firm that wanted to promote 'space-dyed yarn technology' whatever that means....
