I'm posting this here as I think this is the appropriate thread for it, from Scott Manley:

When discussing Soviet space history we mostly talk about the R-7 (Sputnik, Vostok, Molniya, Soyuz) and Proton rockets, but there were a bunch of other rockets developed primarily in what is now Ukraine, many of these were derived from ballistic missiles.
And because many important Soviet ballistic missiles - the R-12, R-14, R16 & R36 were developed at OKB-586 in Dnipro these ended up in Ukraine after the break up of the USSR

The US DoD/NATO designation for the R-7 is the SS-6 Sapwood and for the others:

R-12: SS-4 Sandal
R-14: SS-5 Skean
R-16: SS-7 Saddler (A prototype SS-7 was involved in the Nedelin Catastrophe)
R-36: SS-9 Scarp

Regarding Russian orbital station:

Russia to conduct 15 launches of heavy Angara rocket from 2027 to 2033

Roscosmos head Yuri Borisov noted that it is also necessary to make 19 launches of the Progress spacecraft
MOSCOW, December 24. /TASS/. Between 2027 and 2033, Russia will conduct 15 launches of the Angara heavy rocket in the interests of the Russian Orbital Station (ROS), said Roscosmos head Yuri Borisov.

"The mission is very complex, we will have to carry out 15 launches of the heavy Angara and 19 launches of the Progress spacecraft from 2027 to 2033 to complete the formation of the ROS. It is necessary to create ground infrastructure and prepare the cosmodrome. A model of the promising transport spacecraft has arrived at the Cosmonaut Training Center, and training of new crews has begun. Dozens of Russian enterprises will take part in the work," Borisov said on the air of the Rossiya-24 TV channel .

I sometimes wonder if old world is cursed somehow.
Reusable launcher by 2030 before discounts delays?Same speed as ESA.

Russia launch the last Soyuz 2.1v on February 5th 2025, at 04:00 UTC.
This Soyuz 2.1v used the last NK-33 engine to bring satellite into orbit.

At Roscosmos another change of leader ship
Putin replace Yuri Borisov with Dmitry Bakanov

Regards,

Yuri Borisov with Dmitry Bakanov
Well, my friends from Roskosmos consider Bakanov a... promising choice. He is reasonably competent - he worked on satellite communication systems before, and overhead a largerly sucsessful program of digitalization of Russian transport system. He is arguing for reducing Roskosmos monopoly and prioritizing private space efforts. And he is relatively young and have enthusiasm and energy to push his view over the resistance of bureaucracy.

P.S. And he is so darn sexy)

Meanwhile, multiple Russian propaganda channels on Telegram have focused on a completely different aspect of the new Roscosmos chief: his looks.

“A heated debate has erupted online over the appearance of Roscosmos’s new head, Dmitry Bakanov. Some are calling him a stunning alpha heartthrob, while others don’t see what all the fuss is about,” wrote the channel Shot, asking followers to rate Bakanov with emoji reactions.

Another channel, Ruthless Publicist, put Bakanov on a list of candidates for a “Ministry of Handsome Men.”
However, according to the project Dissernet, Bakanov could be all style and no substance. The project’s director, Andrei Zayakin, told Agentstvo Media that the Russian State Library holds only the abstract of his university dissertation, not the whole thing — and that nearly half of the abstract’s pages contain plagiarized material.
Not a reassuring debate for such an important agency. Will see...

Roscosmos has capable manager with Dmitry Bakanov,
at least he is [optical] improvement compare to Dmitry Rogozin & co...

but if Bakanov can solve the big issues at Roscosmos, the future will show.
like lack of budget, corruption, failing programs, decades behind schedule program, companies rivalry and political pressure from Kremlin...

Guilty as charged; not completely my ideal man, but gosh, he looks so hot in his Transport Department uniform...

I hope Roscosmos supports Bureau 1440, from what I’ve seen it is a quite dynamic company that has achieved some decent technical feats that doesn’t put them far behind the likes of Starlink competitor Kuiper or Qianfan on a purely technical basis, but they badly need investment to scale up beyond the few demonstration satellites they launched

Please, stay on topic.
Even for the bar, a thread on human beauty is way too off topic for this forum
(grumbling) A dude can't even swoon about other dude beauty, where are this world going to?

Okay, now I finished joking)

Engine tests for Angara-A5M launch vehicle completed

Successful completion of the tests opens the way to supply engines for flights, Roscosmos said

MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Development tests of RD-191M engines designed for the Angara-A5M heavy launch vehicle were completed, the Russian space corporation Roscosmos said.
"Development tests, with their goal to confirm conformity of engine characteristics to requirements of the statement of work, were held in Energomash since January. Their successful completions opens the way to supply engines for flights," the state corporation said.
The RD-191M engine uses kerosene and liquid oxygen.

As a reminder Angara-A5M will be used to launch modules for the Russian space station - ROS.

I've always had the impression that the 2014-era sanctions were more impactful to the russian space program than the post-2022 sanctions.

Russia’s own commercial spaceport, Vostochny...
Didn't know we built Vostochny as commercial spaceport. I thought, in the first place, the idea was to build a cosmodrome on our own soil to secure an independent access to space for the sake of our own space program.
