Can anybody recommend this book?

Yes, definitely! Though the Crecy designers should be hanged (occasionally unnecessary blank areas and extremely poorly chosen sans-serif font that is ugly, not reading-friendly (too thin in relation to overall size and quite faint) and not economical in space). The greatest shortcoming in content is the scarcity of detailed engineering drawings plus no performance curves.

Depends on your expectations, a good solid read IMO. As someone who has some knowledge of late WW2 warbirds I was pleased there was plenty of new information for me. As a numbers guy, more stats and charts would have been nice, but not everyone is into the numbers.

Overall, I have to say yes, as with ALL media, possibly could do with mnore stats but then you would never stop. Never publish and the effort would go into the bin of procrastination.

I love all these books for their balance and this one, has imho, good balance.

I think that just about every Hikoki book I've seen had been worth the purchase.

Would you say that the development of British late-war props was comparable to the German ones or better?

If you read Calum Douglas "The secret horsepower race" you can see how the shortage of critical materials, especially nickel, really threw a spanner in the works. Combined with allied bombing of factories and the toxic paranoia of Hitler an Goering, late war German prop development was negligible.
