Middle step from Space Shuttle copy-cat (OC-120) to Buran as we know it, OK-92 at Vadim Lukashevich site.

Just call me Ray said:The only complete Buran frame (the one that went into space) was also destroyed in an earthquake.

hangar collapse was caused by water leaks that caused rust is support structures...
so the space-flown Buran died such way

The second link is a static test article, correct?

because they Shuttle went back to flight
U.S. Senate and congress men ask: "Can you launch the Space Shuttle unmanned ?"
NASA official answer: "Not, that technical impossible"
quellish said:I do not think that is entirely accurate.

The shuttle's autoland system was demonstrated on at least one flight, STS-3.
CFE said:That's a really interesting contrast between OC-120 and OK-92. It appears that OK-92 has significantly less wing area.
OM said:...This is a navigational aid only, and no, there was no automatic landing performed on STS-3. In fact, there has never been any sort of automated landing system built into any of the Shuttles prior to the loss of STS-107. Since then, they've come up with a cludge system to make it work, but a) it hasn't been tested, and b) takes a bit to get set up because it involves a bunch of patch umbilicals and apparently it has to be an either-or situation where manual vs. automatic control is concerned.
Thx alot. Interesting but pretty weird from an engineering perspective. From L+K 1/1983,
I don't know if that a suitable place for it or not ?.
