after some years BAT also was redesigned by Northrop Grumman to simpler version - GBU-44/B Viper Strike with SAL/INS guidance o_O
oh oh it was start-time of era Global War on Terrorism

I'm kind of confused on the wings, how exactly were they supposed to fold into the round shape? There doesn't appear to be any room for the wings in the cylinder, but all the artwork shows bat as a cylinder in its pre launch configuration.

It's a little hard to see, but the head of the missile is actually a larger diameter than the body, so the wings pivot and fold to lie back parallel to the missile body inside the diameter of the head. The sensor probes fold as well so that they lie parallel to the wing when stowed.

I wonder what enticed the change from an IR seeker to an acoustic seeker. Possible a cost reducing solution?
