i sont see what the problem with the should be .. i can see large fishing fleets upgrading their factory ships with a small landing platform for laser equiped drones ..
 
The only problem probably is, that in the very near future, this mathematical
method will be totally academic, because even today, it is harder and harder
to find large swarms of fish in the open sea. The symptoms of overstretching
these resources are already very evident in the chinese sea and around Japan.
From year to year the masses of jelly-fish are becoming larger and larger. The
larvas of the jelly-fish are normal food to fishes, but there aren't enough fishes
left to keep their numbers down. And young fishes are normal food to adult
jelly fish ! So the number of fishes is spiralling down with increasing speed.
Ok, maybe the Murphee/McClendon/Ward/Glaum methode will actually help, to
even increase this speed, so they really deserve the Ignobel award, but I think,
that's not the way it was meant. :-\
