I have a fascination with photos taken by the aircraft manufacturers during the 40's and the beginning of the 50's, particularly with colour ones, and I have a few questions about Lockheed. - what was the proportion of Lockheed pictures that were taken in color at this time (between 1944 and 1950) ? Some books, like those of Bill Yenne about Lockheed or Warren Bodie about the P-38 have beautiful color photographs taken at that time, or even earlier. - what happened to all the original negatives (BW or colour) ? It seems that access to these documents is almost impossible, even by professional historians, why? I don't even know if they are classified and referenced by Lockheed, or if they are in some dusty boxes that everyone has forgotten at Lockheed ? - when Lockheed closed Burbank plant, what became photos and negatives stored in the plant ? - I wonder if there is somewhere a myriad of colour negatives on the XF-90, P-80 and P-80R, Constitution, that will one day be accessible ? Thanks... |
