Lemons Aircraft Co. - Aero No.2 Model B

Good Day All!

A recent and interesting EPay of the attached photos has me wondering what the company and the mock up is. The crop of the model on the cabinet top doesn't look familiar and the close up of the artwork/logo on the mockup's vertical fin appears to say Becker Aircraft Corp. Well, to my eyes and guessing...

Anyone have an idea what is in the photos?

Looks more like Lemons Aircraft Co to me, which is the name on the guy's desk, John E Lemons, before the photo was modified

The style of the suits, haircuts, buildings and so on says USA and late 1940s to me. Both of the names also sound like USA, but are new to me and a quick search of online aircraft magazines gave no results, so we have a challenge.

Looks like Lemons Aircraft Co. to me too.

I tried searching on the net but had no luck with either both gentlmen' names and company.

I think the building shown in the last picture would be the supposed company offices, and the faint readings visible on it (Chemical Corporation of America, La Sa...?, 2310 over the door) may give us a clue on the location where it was taken.

They probably tried their luck in the aircraft manufacturers world, but did not succeed.

The top document is dated 26th November 1940 and is a draft for a sales brochure and the part that can be seen reads (from half way down)....

I found those EPay items too and have bids on them - they definitely all related/ I'll scan and share when I "win" them.

Just "won" the photos - here's to obtaining the documents next.

Not my normal area of interest but intrigued nonetheless. Can't imagine there's much else out there like this on the company.

Greetings All -

Here's the second batch of photos. The company started out as Mercury Aircraft Company which was developing the Aero No.2 Model "A" lightplane. In or about February, 1940, the company changed its name to Lemons Aircraft Co. and the design changed to the Aero No. 2 Model B Project 1. The newsletters run from January 1940 (as Mercury Aero News) and February thru October 1940 as the Lemons Aero News are not much to work with - more an internal "Pep Talk" kind of newsletter and there are no drawings of the design and some very simple artwork that doesn't give away much. The design was to be all metal and the engine a 50hp motor, but the type is not noted.

The company was located at 2310 E. Washington, Los Angeles, California - the photo in the first batch I posted is that building.
