Introduce Yourself

I've lurked here since a little before covid but the NGAD announcements got me to want to start participating. I'm a visual artist and I think the spellbinding and otherworldly appearance of VLO aircraft is what really drives my interest in aerospace, but I've loved it all since I was a kid.

Hi everyone,
I’m Roshan, currently working at the intersection of robotics and vehicle design. My background spans mechanical engineering and data science, and I’ve always been drawn to unconventional vehicles that push the boundaries of conventional design.

One such fascination that’s stayed with me over the years is the world of ekranoplans. There’s something incredibly captivating about how these craft operate in the ground effect zone—balancing between air and sea, combining the best of both domains. Whether it’s the massive Soviet-era Lun-class or modern concepts for cargo transport, I’m constantly amazed by their potential and the engineering that goes into them.

I joined this forum to learn more from those who have researched, designed, or just deeply appreciated WIG craft and similar experimental platforms. I’m here to absorb as much knowledge as I can, exchange ideas, and maybe even contribute with some of my own technical explorations.
Looking forward to diving into discussions and learning from all of you!

Greetings all!

I'm Nick, a 31-year-old Science Writer originally from Indiana but living in Maryland near D.C.
I stumbled across this forum a few days ago in my search for photos of aircraft from Boeing's X-Wing project, which I was looking for to get references for a speculative fiction art project inspired by some of those designs. I've always been fascinated by X planes and the like, and I'm eager to find out more about the history of this topic and see some examples.

Glad to meet you all - here's hoping we can chat soon :)

Hi everyone, I am a 19 year old college student from Dalian and a pure aerospace enthusiast. I've loved aircraft and spacecraft for as long as I can remember. However, most discussions of aerospace on X, Youtube or bilibili are tied to personal politics stance now, but there are no cyber political battles here (hopefully), allowing me to simply join and enjoy the technical discussion.

hEllo I am a young MechE student. I am usually not really into aerospace but recently i have been really interested in the F119 and the izdeliye 30 and i couldnt really find the technical data that I crave (like for example ceramic turbines of the new NPO Saturn engines and stuff). Glad to meet you all, i am a bit shy so i probably wont talk alot but i will try to make quality contributions whenever i can

Greetings-

I am YY2, am now 63 Y/O and am a retired Sr Scientist from the US. I graduated Stanford with an EE degree after serving in the US Marine Corp/Navy Air Wing in NBC. My career was in advanced aerospace and technology projects that spanned employment with DIA, DARPA, NASA, USAF Space Division, a spook private contractor. I was a direct report to a retired 3 star USAF General who had been the Commander of the US Space and Missiles Organization (who owned the private spook company). The company was finally dissolved being acquired by Northrop (while Kresa was their CEO) and I finished my career at Northop before the merge with Grumman.

After graduation, and as a civilian: among domestic SCI programs I also had engagments in data reduction and analysis of foreign technologies. While employed in the private sector, I also was a DELGATED Civilian Classification Authority for the USIC on certain programs funded completely outside of the US beaucracy, with no Congressional oversight. This required that I had clearances and need to know across a very wide cross section of advanced technology programs on behalf of the US, our allies and adversarial studies.

Most of the work I was involved with still remains outside of the public domain. However, I eagerly hope that some of it will be declassified in my lifetime so that I may finally be able to interact with the public that have shared interests.

I look forward to reading members content here and to contribute as much as possible within the guardrails that I have.

Greeting everybody,

Been a lurker for a couple years, decided to make an account this year for ease of use.

My name’s Claudio, and oh well, I’m 16. I’m just a student, and I am half-Italian and half-Indonesian, lived 15 years near Aviano AFB and in July 2024 I moved to Indonesia.

Always had a passion for vehicles and military equipment, mainly Russian.

Just here to read and learn
