It's pretty clearly an artist's profile drawing based on this Yak-9R drawing posted back in 2007 in the first post on the topic. I see no claim that's an historical document and has the artist made guesses as to appearance, sure but that's the nature of the beast when dealing with old and obscure subject matter.
