THis drawing is from Fuji Heavy Industries calender in 1980.
Obviously this is the Z-plane, not Fugaku.
Recognition to Fugaku of Fuji Heavy Industries is this degree. I want Fuji Heavy Industries to think about Fugaku more seriously. :(

Awesome calender Blackkite San!

Thanks dear my friends. I'm verry happy to know that you enjoy this calender.
Please take note that these were all Chikuhei Nakajima's real private projects.
The original drawings for these aircraft by Nakajima Aircraft are still survived as you already know.
I got this calender from Fugaku Flying Club.

Hi! Clean drawing of Z-Koizumi.
I believe this drawing was a trace of Nakajima's factory drawing.
You can see single turbocharger, drop tire, Ha-54 engine, etc.
This design did not have pressurized cabin. The crew use Oxgen mask when high altitude flight.

I love that drawing. Unfortunately that speculative plane is more a What-if subjet than a Secret project ... :'(

Tonton

I would call it a "proposal" since that is what Nakajima called it. I guess all the "combat ready" images could be characterized as "what if?". Correct me if I am wrong but "Project Z" was Nakajima's name for it rather than a an official government label.

I think it is very difficult to put things in perspective between the speculative technical reality of the period 40-45 and the construction of the technological myths later than the war ... We should not make uchronie ( What-if) instead of bringing back authentic dreams (Secret Projects) of that period ... The reality is already so extraordinary sometimes ! I think that in the case of Fugaku the project was so ambitious and so little moved forward technically as all the sorts of proposals are doubtless valid. But it is only the opinion of a (very !) small amateur in the very limited aeronautical culture !

That does not prevent me from finding the subject approached hyper fascinating :)

Very friendly

Hi! I believe this is a Nakajima's factory drawing of Z-Koizumi.
You can see turret located cockpit under side of the fuselage and turret located behind cockpit top of the fuselage.(And nose?)
Also you can see non step wind shield. ;)
But I can't find main undercarriage housing at the engine nacelle. And propellers seems to be single, engine size seems to be small compared with HA-54 engine.Ummmm......??? What is this aircraft!!? ;D

Thanks so much for posting this terrific recreation of a gorgeous airframe.

Honestly speaking, original planned propeller of this aircraft is single. But Fugaku flying club wanted to try contra rotating propeller. ;D
http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=14582.0;attach=514492;image

A very brave experiment!

You also posted a version with six contra-props. I assume there was a reason just the inboards reverted to single propellers...

This is an aesthetically appealing airframe. So glad the design survived to be reborn and to fly (in miniature). My other favorite is the Lockheed 1049G.

Always learn something new from your posts. Thanks again. Harry

Hi! New dicovery.

Sweeping airplane for Fugaku formation escort.
This aircraft was designed by Nakajima aircraft Ohta factory in 1943.
One more same aircraft design is exist designed by Nakajima aircraft Koizumi factory.

http://www.sankei.com/premium/photos/170609/prm1706090009-p7.html

http://www.sankei.com/premium/news/170609/prm1706090009-n1.html
"There are two kinds of design drawings of the found sweeping aircraft, which was made in 1943. Both were equipped with 400 machine guns in tandem on the abdomen of the fuselage. The two types had different sizes. Two types were designed by the Nakajima Aircraft Ota factory which had been building army airplanes and by the Nakajima aircraft Koizumi factory which had been building Navy aircraft.
Ohta factory design was made in January 1943. The equipped weapon and the total weight including 13 passengers are 57.5 tons, the speed is 543 km / h. Some officials consider it to have been expected as a transport aircraft utilizing huge aircraft other than escort aircraft. For Japan, transport aircraft were indispensable for sending new troops etc. instead of ships to the United States.

On the other hand, Koizumi's sweeping aircraft designed three months later than the Ota factory in April 1943. Overall weight 90 tons, occupant 10 people. The speed at altitude 13,000 meters could be up to 800 km/h, 400× 7.7mm guns or 150×20 cannon could be installed. For escort specialization, it was supposed to sharpen the power of enemy ship and enemy aircraft by gun sweep during battle."

Bottom drawing shows Koizumi design?

Fugaku was the IJA and the IJN's joint project. Perhaps G10N was the IJA's name, but there was no name for the IJN(No Ki number).
I don't know what G12 was.

Hi,

the G12M was a Mitsubishi design as I saw in a Japanese book from 1990s.

I don't know if you will understand me,but I found some variant of the fugaku the ligne de front n°73:
-The variant with 400 machine gun
-A variant with 96 Type 96(20mm),12 in the nose,12 in the tail and 36 at both side of the fuselage
-A transport variant for 300 parachutist, this version was planned for a kamikaze operation wich was suppose to destroy the boeing factory of Renton who produce the B 29
(Sorry for my english).
And the nakajima NK 11 motor seem to have been planned for the fugaku.

I found some variant of the fugaku the ligne de front n°73

Just description and the tittle off the article is: Colossales, insolites, terrifiantes !

Also the article deal with some other weapon made by the italian, the american, the english or the russian.

The profile line drawing looks like it was based on a B-29, IMO.

I think that this might be more of a case of similar requirements eventually leading to solutions from different organizations being similar in many respects.
