I saw that. Now-a hypergolic tank could be smaller-perhaps part of the Space 1999 Eagle like horizontal lander with the capsule in the nose. It feeds into a Buran like hypergolic orbiter...then departs. The orbiter can stay or just loop back. I'd want a titanium airframe. Safer than Starship. Sea Dragon alone for one-way Lunar cargo missions, habs, Lunar Gemini escape craft, etc.

I wonder if SpaceX will ever come up with a Starship designed for horizontal orientation on the moon. Driving/walking off seems more user-friendly than elevators and ladders. Think mini, wingless, C-5 Galaxy.

in Our time line Andropov died on 9 February 1984
In August 1983, he entered the Central Clinical Hospital in western Moscow on a permanent basis
Were he died age 70 do total kidney failure 7 months later.

Some screencaps from the trailer. First the three spacecraft. My guesses are that the one with the big centrifuge is the private one from Helios Aerospace, called Phoenix 1; the one with the sphere is the Russian ship, Mars 94; and the other one is NASA's Soujourner.

Same ships, different angles. Note the 'worm' logo on the third, Cyrillic lettering on another. Weirdly, that one is launched without a shroud. The concavity in the sphere recalls the design of the actual Soviet lunar lander.

Three styles of EVA suit, as you'd expect. My guess is that the NASA ones have the Quasimodo backpacks, the Russians are in blue. There are massive pressurised rovers with a strong Ron Cobb vibe. Character in a blue suit standing by the lander, but 'HAB' makes more sense if the letters are Latin and not Cyrillic. Maybe the missions are cooperating - maybe not initially, but they find it necessary as the story develops. Plus an odd, box-like lander. Probably unmanned supply since there are no windows, though there is a docking port.

EDIT: After watching Ep 1, it seems as if either the private Phoenix mission was assembled using the Polaris Hotel as a construction shed or a propulsion system was attached to it and the whole damn thing was launched to Mars.

It's too soon to leap to conclusions but while everything looks cool, I've the sense that the 'realism' is mostly stylistic. The Phoenix looks hugely ambitious and expensive for a first mission, so maybe it's just a space station and the real Phoenix isn't shown? Mars-94 launching without an aerodynamic shroud makes no sense and it appears to be an SSTO, refuelled in orbit since apparently it's on its way to mars looking much the way it did when it launched. Sojourner looks great but very Star Wars-y.

The reactor's at the pointy end and the radiators (and everything else) are in the shadow cone of the radiation shield. Thermal radiators don't get cancer but nuclear radiation from the reactor can affect their materials nonetheless.
