In the past, I've played world of warship, a game that have a lot what-if ships. But many of those ships are inspired by real proposal. I don't know where they take their information.

Some information from globalsecurity.

Some information from globalsecurity.

  • 4 quad AA 37mm (range Ver - 5km,160-180 shots/sec).
  • 20 AA 12.7mm HMGs.
aircraft10 recon-bomber , 20 fighters.
Crew ???

They have Pobeda, a variant of a large aircraft carrier project based on the hull of a Kronshtadt-class cruiser.
I don't know how close to reality this one is.

They have Chkalov a vairant of the Project 71 called Project 71B.

They have Admiral Nakhimov, a design for completing a Project 23 (Sovetsky Soyuz-class battleships) battleship as a heavy aircraft carrier.
I don't know how close to reality this one is either

Does the discussion of fictional warships found in a fictional game belong to Military section, or to the Discussion and Speculation section?

Personally I'd vote for keeping this section as factual and professional as possible.

As stated in my message, two of the fictional design leads to real soviet design that have full page about them on global security.
The specs sample and low-res blueprints are from global security.
Regarding the two "conversion", as said I don't know from where they take their information, so I don't know if USSR ad any conversion plan using Kronshtadt-class or Sovetsky Soyuz-class hulls for carrier.

The Kronshtadt conversion proposal was real it's project number was Project 69AV, the conversion of Sovietsky Soyuz I've not heard of. Also Chkalov (I always pronounced it Chaklov xd) name was already assigned to the fourth Chapayev class cruiser, but wargaming was never good at assigning names for never were designs.

Hello,

I did a lot a research and interpretation about Orel class carrier, that was supposed to be an aircraft carrier of cold War Russia.

From the existing drawings, I even did all the relevant aircraft that were supposed to be on it (Mig-29K, Mig-23K, Mig-27K, Ka-27, and Yak-44E, with relevant GSE :

If some of you are interested, I can post a link for the compiled model to explore what I understood and recreated.

Cheers,

Wahoo! Beautiful!
I really like the MiG-23K! Would it be possible to have more pictures of them ?

Speaking of FICTIONAL Soviet Carriers and related, years ago I did a story involving a whole class based upon the Project Orel design and also involving carrier based Su-24s:

Really great ! I like Su-19R & Su-24KR "Sparvark" ;) ! I find the Su-24K armed with R-27s particularly interesting.

Wonderful !!!:) I love it very much !
Did you use three view drawings to do these models ?
Hello,

I used all kind of sources...

For Mig-23K, I used this drawing :

That I for the rest I used blueprints of the regular Mig-23.

For the carrier, I used all kind of sources, models, blueprints, everything !

Some glimpses of the carrier itself :

What I mostly did was crossing TAKR Kuznetsov blueprints with what I could have got for Orel class. It wasn't easy, and honestly, some imagination was needed to fill incompatibilities.

Hope you enjoy !
