I wonder if this was also part of the C-138 proposal, which was reserved for a U.S. Navy version of the F-27 but eventually not allocated, or completely separate... So far all we've seen of that is a model of Fairchild's M-258 design, supposed to depict the proposed C-138.

Seller's description

This Fairchild F27 was proposed by the manufacturer as a replacement for the venerable C117, which was long overdue its trip to the boneyard at Davis-Mothan in Tucson. Other aircraft proposed (unsolicited ) included the DHCs DH8. This model given to the seller in 1973 by the Fairchild rep. Decals are usn. The model is 9 inches long with an 11 inch span, and is in near mint condition.
