His daughter Kely Nascimento paid tribute to her father: "We are thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace."

My dad says he saw Pele play in person at the 1958 World Cup. That was his first World Cup at 17.

My dad was 9 in 1958 and clearly remembered that World Cup. He had to wait 25 more years for France to achieve something again (1982 my horror - Toni Harald Schumacher demolition of Battiston - what a SOB !)

RIP to one of civilisations gentle giants. On and off the pitch his example of how to be a decent human being, he created goodwill in swimming pool sized vats. Legendary, one of the few that will be missed across the globe.
