While researching British post war torpedo development for a future entry to the 'Fictional Warships' thread I found an online reference to a US Post-WWII torpedo project designated the Mk.42. Supposedly this was the last non-guided design the US worked on and was intended to incorporate every piece of available wartime experience with the existing US Navy torpedoes. Supposedly the project 'collapsed under it's own weight' (More likely someone realised how limited a non-guided design would be.), but I'd like to know a little more about it, what was the 'baseline design', the specifications the designers were working towards and how far did they get in the development process, before it was cancelled.
