This is actually the rendering of the final Dassault Grand Duc shape.

The definition phase of the nEUROn ended in June and the shape of the demonstrator was frozen. Now its undergoing extensive windtunnel testing, mainly in Sweden. I haven't confirm this yet, but I expect that it is the configuration AP781-30. If everything goes right, the first flight is expected in 2011 - 2012 timeframe. I tried several times to contact the Dassault personell with some official questions, but they don't bother even to say that they will say nothing. Well, firm culture in Dassault is in the very low level based on my more than two years experience with them.

I found those good photos, where I can clearly show the difference between the two birds. Note that the Grand Duc is twin engined.

And its the pity that only a few people really know, how advanced and ambitious the Grand Duc was. In the proposed operational variant it was even bigger than the X-47B, capable to use tactical nuclear missiles and with the all aspect stealth. The gear was placed upside down, so the plane rotated by 180 degrees during the level flight.

Anyone has got pictures of the Petit Duc sub-scale demonstrator?

Just note, that there are two versions of the Petit Duc. The first one AVE-D (Discrétion) is the original 1/100 subscale demonstrator with the diamond wing. The second one 1/10 scale AVE-C (Contrôle) (from which originally evolved the Dassault/Sagem Slow-Fast UAV) is the bigger platform with the modified wing. It also flown tailess.

This should explain the complicated development of the european UCAV demonstrators.

Thanks a lot flateric, overall for the link concerning the Petit Duc AVE program :)

But it seems that there are mistakes in some links (Wikipedia) and in older posts of this topic.

AFAIK (from Air & Cosmos French weekly magazine) :

-AVE D (first flight July 2000) and AVE C (first flight June 2003) were parts of Petit Duc Program. The weight of each model was around 60 kgs.

-The Moyen Duc (first flight ca September 2004) program was based on the AVE C's shape, but it was not the AVE C and its weight was around 500 kgs. For the same reason, the 2004 tactical UAV Dassault-Sagem SlowFast was not "based on the Moyen Duc AVE C", it "was the Moyen Duc" and "based on the Petit Duc AVE C".

A good reminder of the level of work that was put in by France before sharing programmes with other nations.

If I may, if one is to believe https://www.senat.fr/rap/r05-215/r05-2159.html, the canceled and unbuilt Grand Duc was to be the 3rd and final (combat?) phase of Dassault's LOGIDUC program, LOGIDUC meaning LOGique de Développement d'UCav, after the 110 lbs Petit Duc (1st flight in July 2000) and the 1,100 lbs Moyen Duc.
