It does have movie potential. There is this trope where a missile is launched at the hero's airplane and it takes impossibly long to close in, giving the hero time to do some fancy evasive action.
With this, half way through, a gun could pop out the missile and start shooting, allowing for even more fancy evasive action. Not to mention explosions everywhere.

So in a Marvel or DC Comics universe film then?

Nah it goes almost instantly from miles and miles away to 100 feet behind the hero and then sits there for five minutes, following the aircraft around.
