A couple of shots of the SA-2S model that we just repaired and repainted. Too late for the article, but some of you may enjoy. I'll be posting a four-view at some point on our website. The wings actually swing out. Model is about two feet in length.

Awesome, thanks for posting the model pics. That's one of my favorite designs from the article. :)
 
two more. the head-on and backside shots have some depth-of-field issues. Will have to get those reshot.

Are you quite sure about this? The fins (fin?) in his avatar look considerably taller to me...

or orthogonal camera if any. Due to missing orthogonal camera in Vue I have to use Carrara, too.

You are of course quite right about the fin... maybe we should ask the man himself!

I had convinced myself that the nose and underslung Marquardt ramjet "twin pack" were defining features of the SA-2S configuration (and that these are also visable in his avatar picture)
 
My only complaint is that they don't give us more resolution. :(
 
As least for building 3-D models from them, there is no such thing as "too much resolution". ;D

I posted too soon, didn't have a chance to read the whole thread when I posted. The contributors to that site are quite skilled and produce some high quality fictional designs.

The illustrations you posted are completely legit and were originally posted on Lockheed Martin's official site.

No, but it was an ancestor design.

The Fish proposal was an ancestor of the Kingfish; FISH stands for First Invisible Super Hustler because it was intended as a reconnaissance derivative of the Super Hustler. More info on the Fish can be found at http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/planes/q0287.shtml.
 
Just curious, how was the combination intended to take off ? The Hustlers nose undercarriage is covered by the Fish vehicle, im wondering if any drawings show the intended setup?

The noses of both the Super Hustler and the FISH were designed to fold down and back 180 degrees while underneath the B-58. This would clear space for the B-58 nosegear for takeoff. The nose would fold into place after nose gear retraction.
