China halts Boeing jet orders

That will hurt Boeing and the US in the long run I think. China has placed big orders for Boeing planes in the past it will be interesting to see where China goes for the replacement orders? Russia or Europe?

Eu is the only option.
Chance the US will fire back at C919/929 programs is here, though.

China does this and Trump kills SLS...not good.
Shuttle lasted as long as it did to tide us over until such time we could replace ICBMs and had a healthier energetics community.

Important to remember that China deploys Airbus and Boeing aircraft orders as political sweeteners/punishments. Just because the current decision punishes the US doesn't mean the next one will favour the EU.

Well, that will seriously hurt Boeing’s airliner division. Very. Seriously. Both now and especially in the long run.

So what will happen? Trump will not relent. China will get shiny new Airbusses. My prediction is that the US government will want to save Boeing and force US Airlines to buy more Boeings. I’m betting there will be an announcement soon saying that the USAF definitely won’t get Airbus MRTT’s, and Trump may force US airlines to cancel their Airbus orders and take the now leftover Boeings instead.

I wonder whether the A320’s produced in the US will qualify for US-build but I guess so.

If only there had been some way we could have seen this coming…

Airbus will be the Winner in that Game
and to be honest, under current conditions is Russia able to build fleet of airliners for China ?

Russia is apparently trying to negotiate a large Boeing order with Trump, paid for from Russian assets seized in the US. Kind of a we desperately need planes due to sanctions so we will order yours and in return you get a big financial slice of our seized assets rather than Ukraine.

Speculation followed by speculation. Yes, a deal will be made with Russia. Yes, sanctions will be lifted. Yes, Russia will get parts of East Ukraine. The fake outrage about "rewarding the aggressor" will fade. It will be good if Russian and American interests come into closer alignment. China will not like that.

If the Chinese economy collapses, they will not need any more planes and Boeing's economic losses can be offset with military aircraft construction programs, so that Europe can meet 3% of its economic obligations to NATO.

It is amazing to see "too expensive" disappearing from Europe. "We don't have the money" has changed to billions of dollars appearing out of thin air. Rheinmetall is back to making 155mm artillery shells. And the other miracle: billions for the Ukraine.

Here is the formula. Go to the UK, ask for billions of dollars and the British PM just gives it to you.

I might try it myself :)

So are they going for domestic industry or just non-American aircraft like Airbus?

If the admittedly rather iffy speculation about China's population being *far* lower than officially reported are even vaguely close to true, China won't have all that much need of commercial airliners.
