Antonov An-24 Hovercraft Conversion

Found among a load of An-24 photos from old magazines was this Antonov An-24 hovercraft conversion.

A handwritten note on the reverse says it was a conversion undertaken by the Kuibyshev Polytechnic Institute. The outer wings were removed and an air cushion skirt supplemented the landing gear.

No idea of the date (late 1980s ?) or engine modification details.
