Werner Kuffner had been pursuing the idea of a modern drive technology for motor gliders since the mid-1970s. The core of the prototype of his two-seater W.K.1 was the drive unit with a BMW R90/S motorcycle engine with a cooling fan in the undercarriage box. The motor glider flew for the first time in 1984.Until his death in 2017, Werner Kuffner worked on a family of aircraft:
W.K.20 - two seat very light aircraft project
W.K.30 - two seat light multipurpose aircraft project
W.K.40 - side-by-side high-performance motor glider project
W.K.50 - tandem two seater for aerobatics and training project
Unfortunately, I don't know any further information about the projects. I would be happy to find out more about them.
