After the 1973 October war, the Soviet Union analysed the performance of their SAM systems and came to the conclusion that their long range fixed SAM sites were extremely vulnerable to air attack. Development was started of the Igarka system to defend long range SAM sites (the S-200, and the S-300 then in development). The missile was designated 45N6.
75T6 'Igarka' Close-in SAM System
The system is designed to defeat the enemy tactical aviation, cruise missiles, ARMs, UAVs on low and extremely low altitudes and en masse.
Basic tactical & technical specifications:
Two fully independent target detection, identification, tracking, engagement and fire-control channels: radar and laser; w/ capability to synthesize a combo-channel on demand.
Missile guidance - semi-active radar/laser homing, probably radio command guidance
Composition of SAM Battalion:
1x Command Post
2x Double-channel Engagement and Target Illumination Radar
4x TEL, 8x 45N6-T surface-to-air missiles each
The 45N6T missile seems to greatly resemble the M330 (SA-15 Tor) in design in one drawing, but less in another. There are lots of original design docs in the first link - a Russian speaker's assistance would be useful.
