Seven companies responded to the VFAX RFP for unfunded proposals for a Mach 1.6 aircraft with 28,000-30000lb weight an unit cost less that $6 million in 1975 dollars over a 400 aircraft program.

PS: small edit made by Deino as the German name for that helicopter was not "Fleidermaus" but only "Fledermaus" without an "i" meaning "bat" !!

The B83 was allocated SKr 400 Million in 1977 for initial development. It was expected to arm the B3LA light fighter design, but was clearly adaptable to other designs. It used an imaging infra-red (IIR) seeker working in the 7-14 micron band and based on the seeker of the cancelled RB72 AAM. In...
AST (Air Staff Target) 1227 was a requirement for a PGM for antitank duties. BAe offered the highly supersonic Sabre, based on the Rapier SAM airframe with a laser seeker. Bill Gunston suggests the seeker was by Martin Marietta and related to the Copperhead seeker. Single shot kill probability...
