Image of the Vickers proposal for a modified Invincible Class ship to replace HMAS Melbourne. The enlarged hangar and removal of Sea Dart are of note. Also Invincible image for comparison.

If I may put in a shameless self plug for a moment:
I have finished a companion volume to 'A Vertical Empire' called 'An Atomic Empire'. This deals with the British atomic programme from Windscale onwards, dealing with not only Windscale but the atomic weapons programme and the nuclear power...

:) Very interesting article from Navy International April 1975 regarding a convertible warship design.
Does anyone have access to further information, perhaps a larger and clearer drawing as per page 23 or 25?
Enjoy and I look forward to any replies.

Reportedly there was a project in Canada during WW2 referred to as the "Universal Scout Car" or "General Utility Project", which was to replace both the Scout Cars and the Light Recce Cars of the Canadian army.
The project is being mentioned here...
I came across an article in the september 1984 edition
of 'Aeroplane Monthly', about Edgar Percival, who had died
earlier that year. In the article I found this :-
"In 1962 he [Edgar Percival] designed the Percival Gull Jet, a 12-place jet-engined executive aircraft with a cruising speed of...
he classic Steve McQueen movie immortalized three tunnels at Stalag Luft III POW camp. Now, astonished archaeologists have discovered a fourth called George. It has lain hidden for nearly 70 years and looks, to the untrained eye, like a building site. But, this insignificant tunnel opening...

I have been reading a book 'On Weapons Decisions: How Australia Chooses to Arm Itself (1963-1996)' by John Bruni (again!)
Under Part 2, Chapter 5 Patterms of Procurement 1983-1992, it talks about the early 1980's plans to replace the Australian Army's M113A1 APC fleet with an...
Prior to the abandoning of truly indigenous British nuclear warheads in 1958/1959 and the adoption of the US Mk28 and its associated technology in various guises as Red Snow all the way through to the WE.177 series the UK pursued its own megaton Thermonuclear weapons warheads.
Amongst these...

According to "Abbot FV433 Self-Propelled Gun" by Christopher F. Foss (AFV Weapons Profile 51) there was an unbuilt vehicle based upon the Abbot that was to be a "light tank", named the Vickers 13 ton tank. This is a quotation from the booklet:
Do you have any further info on this project? Does...
In 1959 G.K.C.Pardoe, Chief Coordinator/balistic missiles at DeHavilland Propellers Ltd.
made several proposals to use the Blue Streak as the basis for a sattelite transport
system.
- The first shown would combine the Blue Streak with a solid propellant second stage,
where the payload would have...

From ‘Stuck on the Drawing Board’ by Richard Payne
Avro’s original projects against the Type 3 Specifications were the Avro 690 and 692 (or Avro XXII and XXIII), both powered by six Rolls-Royce Merlin 100 engines. These were superseded by the Avro 693 in 1945, which began life powered by four...
The Australian Government Aircraft Factories proposed a ground attack version of the "Nomad" STOL transport called "Bellata". I would like to see an artist's impression or three-view drawing of this project - who can help?
About 10 years ago Air Enthusiast published an article on CAC projects. One was, if memory serves, the XP 65 Warrior, a stainless steel supersonic fighter bomber. AE reproduced a small scale picture but very little information. Does anyone have further information or pictures on Commonwealth...
