Based on the data obtained as a result of studying the parameters and testing full-scale samples of dynamic anti-cumulative protection (ChTZ, the developer of the tank object 775) designed dynamic protection for the upper frontal part of the layout of the body of the object 775, the design of which was subject to the following basic requirements:
1. Non-penetration by cumulative ammunition penetrating up to 600 mm of steel armor of medium hardness.
2. Non-penetration by armor-piercing sub-caliber and armor-piercing shells of 100, 115 and 122 mm caliber at standard speed.
3. Reducing the weight of the tank by 1.5 ÷ 2% in relation to object 775 having a combined barrier (steel + fiberglass + steel) on the upper frontal hull sheet, fig. 775-50-sb4.
4. Preservation of the internal volume of the body of the 775 object without a significant increase in its external dimensions.
The design was based on the scheme of a single-layer dynamic anti-cumulative protection, shown below and consisting of a steel armor base, flat protective rows of explosives located on the outer surface of the armor base, and attachment of protective charges to the armor base.
