Zeke 52 with "Schräge Musik"

The only Zero I with vertical fire I had ever heard of was one example in Indochina where a Captain mounted 20mm cannons to fire at the enemies who remained on the exact opposite side in a horizontal turn , without gaining or losing advantage. Might have been flown a couple of times until an inadvert firing killed a ground crew during maintenance. Considering the legendary Zero turning, an odd story indeed.

the variant night fighter of A6M5 was A6M5d

Zero night fighter had a 99-shiki 2-go 4-gata 20mm cannon at after part of the cockpit or left side of the fuselage. There were some Zero night fighters in Atsugi base Japan to intercept B-29 at the day and called A6M5d-s.
