Boogey said:Fine, the problem has been solved, anyway the TsKB No. 23 ( nor TsKB No. 29 ) is NOT an aircraft, contrary to the TsKB-23 and TsKB-29 machines.
TsKB-14 – Polikarpov DI-7 two-seat fighter (I-17 derivative, project only)
My dear Borovik,TsKB-14 – Polikarpov DI-7 two-seat fighter (I-17 derivative, project only)
From Aviation magazine 1956,of course it was a Project only,
the DI-7,
The 1936 DI-7 is the last two-seat fighter, built in U.R.S.S. Like the DI-6, it is a
sesquiplane single engine with train retractable. No details, no illustration have
not been published on this device whose maximum speed is given for 400 km.h.
(249 mph.)
@Antonio, the title still needs fixing!! ;-)Hi Stephane!
Maybe it would be better to remove "TsAGI" from the title at all. As I said, TsAGI has no real connection with the matter of this topic: moreover, TsKB of Zavod 39 can be considered the main rival of KOSOS TsAGI (ANT).
No problem. Then the prefered tittle should be this one?@Antonio, the title still needs fixing!! ;-)
I suggest the following:No problem. Then the prefered tittle should be this one?
"TsKB-" designations
I suggest the following:
Zavod 39 (TsKB-) designations

In Autumn 1929, Polikarpov, Grigorovich and others were imprisoned as traitors when they fail to deliver aircraft prototypes on deadline. However, work continued in prison as KB "VT", a special design bureau. Since their VT fighter was deemed better than the Tupolev one and impressed Stalin himself, the team was granted freedom, and a new bureau designated ЦКБ-39 ОГПУ (TsKB-39 OGPU) was organized at factory No.39 in December 1929 under the supervision of Nikolai Paufler. |

On 13th January 1933, TsKB TsAGI was reorganised as TsKB GUAP (Glavnoye upravleniye aviatsionnoy promyshlennosti, Chief Directorate of the Aviation Industry), often refered to simply as "TsKB", under Sergei Vladimirovich IIyushin, who was also involved in solving administrative issues in this bureau. Work was divided into several "brigades":

NOTES: * Designations TsKB-7 and TsKB-8 are often found for the same aircraft as N°7 and N°8 of the first list. Although it is only a hypothesis, I have considered here that they may have been carried over from the other list as the projects were still alive. - In the same way that TsKB-38, -42 and -46 were used for TsKB-11Sh, -3RV and -12P, it seems highly likely to me that many of the missing numbers in the list were probably just paper designations for the I-15bis, I-15ter and so forth. They could also have been paper designations for the I-180, I-185 and several other aircraft developed during those years. |
The newspaper mentions a twin-engine aircraft TsKB-26 Ilyushin Design Bureau. Just because of the poor quality of the newspaper's photo, you thought it was TsKB-20The TsKB-20 is something of a mystery:
Any thoughts?
- It is listed as a June 1934 project in a Soviet document entitled "1935 Aircraft industry: Fulfillment of plan: 1934 1935 1936" without any other piece of information: https://textarchive.ru/c-1962837-pall.html
- It is mentioned in passing in a 29 August 1937 Soviet newspaper as a "twin-engine aircraft": https://portal-kultura.ru/upload/iblock/b6c/1937.08.29.pdf
- It was presented in several model magazines in (Model Airplane News, Dec. 1938; Model Aircraft, Feb. 1955) as the "Russian I-18 fighter operated with the Spanish Government Air Force during the civil war." From the images provided, however, it is more likely that it was the I-16 Type 18 rather than the I-18.
