I think this drawing's vertical tail stabilizer/rudder shape and flap shape are little strange.

I think this is the better one compared with actual E14Y1 pictures.

How were the catapults on the submarines which launched this aircraft powered? Steam? Some mechanical system? Rockets?

I think, those subs used compressed air catapults. Several catapults of this type were delivered before the war to Japan.

Wow thanks!
Perhaps E14Y1's vertical tail stabilizer was shortened, ventral fin was added to accommodate in submarine.

Perhaps E14Y1 prototype and production model had a same shape rudder.
Only production model's vertical tail stabilizer height was increased to improve poor flight characteristic of prototype model.
Production model's vertival tail stabilizer upper part was collapsed to horizontal direction to accommodate into submarine.
You can see air catapult in bottom two pictures.

The book is already on my bookshelves Tadeus...

I was much surprised by the flightmaps over Oregon, found by Ruyshuke
and your drawing of the 'Glen' development.

Great work !

I've this one too. An impressive work.
My only critic is the lack of cross section on the big drawings.

Alcides

I got my copy today. Amazing book. Very cheap compared with it's value.

Any other informations about E14Y2? I have seen was projected with hitachi engine of 510 Hp.
