STOVL ADEN, apparently YF-17 and F-18 derived.

STUDY OF AERODYNAMIC TECHNOLOGY FOR VSTOL FIGHTERIATTACK AIRCRAFT - HORIZONTAL A TTITUDE CONCEPT https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/19790001853/downloads/19790001853.pdf

Canards are on the inlets (which are much larger, "modified F-17 7° ramp") instead of the fuselage. Uses something like the F-35 lift fan, except it's a duct from the engine that more closely resembles a harrier nozzle or something. But there's only one and it uses a gimbal to balance itself! And yes, the main engine looks like a bucket nozzle but the paper says it's ADEN and I confirmed GE is involved. Also uses a GE concept called RALS for the frontal VTOL nozzle portion.

"Producibility of the original page is poor" or "Original page is of poor quality". I tried my best.

In the case od yak-141 had a similar solution only with the difference that in the middle part they use jet engines that create thrust that can raise a lot of smoke and dust

This is the Northrop N336 HATOL vertical takeoff fghter.
I apologize, I wasn't aware of HATOL. Makes sense now, it's "Horizontal Attitude TakeOff and Landing". Edit: doesn't N336 have dorsal inlets, not a side mounted ones? Though the nose shape among other things is strikingly similar... I'm fairly new here (and read the rules) but should I delete it and move it to a different thread?
