So I didn't want to necro, (mods feel free to do what you will) but I stumbled across another patent for the "Winged" Apollo CM/SM AND a model here:

I STILL do not see how this could make sense without some MAJOR modifications just to get it to glide??

foldable wings into the SIM bays, then some kind of undercarriage, but we still miss a tail, plus its aerodynamic profile in horizontal flight must be like a led brick.
